Cardiac Anesthesia
Mount Sinai's anesthesiologists are highly skilled and experienced, offering patients the utmost in anesthesia care. Before undergoing cardiac surgery or a procedure, a member of the anesthesia team meets with the patient to conduct a thorough assessment and determine what type of anesthesia is appropriate. The anesthesiologist also consults with each patient's surgeon prior to the surgery. During the procedure, patients are carefully monitored, controlled and treated by an anesthesia care team, which uses sophisticated equipment to track all major bodily functions. The length and level of anesthesia is calculated and constantly adjusted with great precision. At the conclusion of surgery, an anesthesiologist will reverse the process and monitor patient vital signs as they regain awareness in the recovery room.
